Lousy weather for Fourth of July

The weather this weekend is aweful; certainly not the picture perfect July 4th we had hoped for... But the good news is - you can come to The Inspiration Station and get lots of fun stuff to scrapbook with and maybe make a few cards!

Lots of people have been coming in with their passports and we expect to see a lot more this weekend. I mean, if you can's play in the sun and cook burgers & dogs on the grill- you might as well SHOP right! Yeah, that's what I think!

The summer is underway

Our passport to summer program kicked off yesterday (July 1st) and already we are meeting lots of new people! We expect to see many "traveler's" this holiday weekend - but please remember we are CLOSED Friday, July 4th; I would hate to have someone drive a distance to be disappointed!!

We wanted to be fully stocked for all of the people who will be coming through with their passports and boy, are we! We have so much new stuff we have had some new papers sitting on the counter for almost a week with nowhere to put it. Good thing we have our Dollar Days sale coming up next weekend-maybe we can make some room! One thing that I think may be gone before the sale is the new batch of $1 clear stamps from Studio G. They came on on Monday and the people in classes have been scooping them up by the handful.

Our Kid's Kamp started last week and the group made some very cute beach ball albums. Next week's project will be a Christmas in July themed container. Please register your child by the Friday prior to the class they will attend; Donna makes up the kits over the weekend. Children ages 7 and older are welcome to attend.

Our Christmas in July classes are filling quickly, particularly the cards classes. I highly recommend that you sign up immediately if you want to attend. We are running both the card class and the Deck the Halls class on Sunday, July 13 so you can save gas money by attending two classes in one day. The Deck the Hall class will be amazing and includes a Holly Berry House Stamp to take home so you will be able to recreate your projects as gifts. Space is very limited.

We are gearing up for the Passport to Summer by stocking the store with all kinds of new products. The girls have been working non-stop to check in and price all of the the goodies that have come in this week and there are lots more scheduled for next week.

I have received shipping notices for the Twinkling H2O's, Basic Grey Euphoria, loads of Travel themed papers & embellishments and lots more.

I know that gas prices have been hitting everyone hard and I understand if you are not able to visit as often as before. We are finding that a lot of people are planning their shopping around classes or events. If you are coming to a class, plan to arrive early to do your shopping, that way you'll have plenty of time to see everything. Also, consider carpooling - It's always more fun to shop with a friend! When you do stop in, pick up a few extra of the basic items like adhesive or solid cardstock, that way you don't run the risk of running out in the middle of a project. Even if you don't need it that day, you will eventually and it could save you a trip.

Loads of new stuff

What a week! I didn't make it in to the store much last week due to some family stuff, but man the UPS & Fed Ex guys sure did. I cannot believe how much stuff came in. Tons of new papers & page kits, new stamps, new magazines, and more.

Oh, by the way, lately a lot of people have come in saying they can't find the 12 x12 cutting mat for the Cricut Expression... Well people, that's because your looking in the wrong places! Stop going to the big box stores!!!! We have them here.

The sign ups for the Passport to Summer are now underway. You can sign up at any participating store until June 30. We had a great turn out on Sunday, sold out of all our Bo Bunny albums, but we expect more in today or tomorrow. People seem quite excited that they have all summer to gather the passport stamps.

    Rubberstamps

This past weekend was the Rubberstamp show at the Big E and Donna, Dawn & I went up on Sunday. We saw lots of our customers there including almost all of our Card Club members. The show was much smaller than in years past, but for Dawn it was her first year so she was like a kid in a candy shoppe!

What I like is being able to see all of the fantastic samples that the vendors have displayed. It is so much more inspiring than just seeing the stamp. We get to go to trade shows and see things like that all the time, but for the consumer it's hard to visualize sometimes. We were able to pick out several upcoming card club stamps so we are now set through November.

Donna has finally decided on a focus for her Christmas in July classes. The morning class will be card making and the afternoon class will be a stamped gift box, an ornament topper, and an ornament. The second class is called "Deck the Halls" and will include a Holly Berry House stamp in the price of the class.

Also, we have had MANY requests to carry Twinkling H2o's and we are finally able to bring them in. They will be the featured product in the August Card Club Classes and Donna will be using them in the Chrismas in July classes as well.

Holy Cow, that was a lot of stuff!

We had our 2nd Tag Sale on Sunday and, Oh my Goodness, we moved a TON of stuff. When the ladies (and one very tall police officer husband) started bring their boxes in on Friday the classroom quickly filled up and we could not move! We frantically began praying for good weather so we could move some stuff outside. As soon as the rain stopped on Saturday afternoon my son & I set up a couple of tents and started pulling tables out of the basement.

On Sunday morning, my son & I got to the store at 8:30 and started carrying boxes of rubber stamps out to the parking lot. We filled 6 eight foot tables with just STAMPS! I couldn't believe the deals! There were so many brand new sets of stamps from CTMH & SU and they were priced $2, $4, $5......

Inside we had 3 tables of just ALBUMS. Most were priced $3!!! Holy Guacamole - I could have restocked my store! All of the folks who came and patiently manuvered through the chaos got some AWESOME DEALS.

We had a lot of people ask about the next one and we are working on a date for the fall- so stay tuned!

    Threading Water is finally here!

That elusive Fiskars border punch that everyone wants has finally arrived in the store. We had several people of a waiting list for it so there are only a couple left. I will be reordering on Monday so if you are not able to get one this weekend ask to put your name on the list for the next shipment.

Also, those gorgeous Prima flowers that I showed a couple of weeks ago are back in stock. Once again they are going fast. Another great embellishment that came in is the summer ribbon spools from American Crafts. The colors are so bright and cheerful and one style has white zig zag stitching down the center and it is so (stinkin') cute!

Our Tag Sale is this Sunday, June 1st from 11am-4pm. Our customers have been dropping off their stuff by the car loads. There is some really awesome stuff here and great prices too. Don'tmiss your chance for some great deals. Oh, if you are a magazine lover or a stamp lover you will have TONS to choose from...

    Life is busy

This time of year is always a whirlwind of activity and it is so hard to keep up with things like blogging! Yes, the store has cool new stuff, but we are so busy preparing for the Tag Sale this weekend I really haven't had a chance to check it all out so ... you're on your own this week! You need to come in to see what's new!

If you are participating in our Tag Sale, please drop you items off Friday so we can get everthing set up. We are hoping to be able to set some stuff up outside under tents but only if the weather cooperates. Keep your fingers crossed.

On a personal note, I just want to show off my daughter's lovely prom pictures from last weekend.

    Don't forget about our troops

Since this weekend is Memorial Day, I wanted to remind everyone about our Cards for Soldiers Drive. I met Dotty Young, coordinator of the Connecticut effort, at CKC in in New Hampshire and she expressed her thanks for all those that have participated so far. I would like to send the next shipment off mid-June so the troops can get the package by Independence Day.

    Cards for Soldiers Card Drive
A Statewide Effort Sponsored by your Local Stamp & Scrap Stores

Help our Soldiers communicate with loved ones back home. Create handmade cards that will be sent around the world so our Soldiers can pick up cards free of charge at their local military stores and send notes home.

Stamp on the outside of the cards, leaving the inside blank for special notes. Helpful themes include: Miss you, Anniversary, Happy Birthday, Children, Mother‘s/Father‘s Day and so on. Any age can participate! Submit in sets of 10 handmade cards/envelopes. Volunteers divide up the handmade cards so making ten of the same card is perfectly fine.
Drop off at The Inspiration Station.
Please call or stop in with questions!
    Thank you in advance!

We are back from New Hampshire and I *think* fully recovered... We met a lot of very nice people at the crops and are looking forward to doing the Hartford Show.

This week will be crazy, we have classes every night and Friday night is my daughter's Prom; which reminds me I need to pick up her dress at the seamstress....

As a reminder, we will be closed on Monday to celebrate Memorial Day-please come and see us on Sunday instead.

    Heading to New Hampshire

This weekend is the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Manchester, NH. Terry and I have been busy packing up a truckload of stuff to take up to sell at the crops on Friday & Saturday night. It's always a challenge to figure out what people are going to want; in fact, it's quite stressful. Donna & Michelle will be holding down the fort while we are gone so stop in and keep them company. If you are going to be at the convention, look for us. We have coupons to give away for the store.
